DigiD stands for Digital Identity. It's a secure login system used to access online services from Dutch government agencies, healthcare providers, and pension funds. It verifies your identity when you manage official affairs online.

It typically takes 3-5 working days to receive the activation letter by post after your application. Once you have it, activation can be completed online right away.

If you're not fluent in Dutch, a translator ensures clear communication with the authorities and avoids misunderstandings during official verification.

For most residents, the annual income tax return must be filed before May 1st of the following year. Extensions can be requested if you need more time.

The M-form (Migration form) is a special comprehensive tax return required for the year you migrated to or emigrated from the Netherlands. It accounts separately for the resident and non-resident periods.

The C-form is for taxpayers who did not live in the Netherlands for the whole year but did earn Dutch-sourced income (for example, cross-border workers). Unlike the M-form, it doesn't require a migration or emigration year — it applies to anyone who was a non-resident taxpayer during that tax year. I work out which form applies to you and prepare your filing accordingly.

The refund amount varies a lot from person to person, based on your total income, applicable deductions (like the 30% ruling, mortgage interest, or study costs), and how much tax your employer withheld during the year.

Eligibility for Zorgtoeslag mainly depends on your income (and your partner's, if applicable) and total capital. You also need a mandatory Dutch health insurance policy.
